Rafa Matos – Road America – 3 Starts – 2 Poles – 1 Win

Having never started off the front row, in three years at Road America in Trans Am TA2 – Rafa Matos is ready for another great weekend at Elkhart Lake.  Putting the car on pole in TA2 as a rookie in 2017, Rafa has shown he enjoys the long straights and sweeping corners at the Wisconsin favorite, and is hungry to repeat his 2019 win from pole position.

This weekend is a first trip to Road America for owner / driver Maurice Hull, however with Rafa’s experience, and the great cars being provided by the Silver Hare family, Maurice is confident he will be fighting for a Masters win on the longest track of the season in the #57 Silver Hare Racing Camaro ZL1.

The 2020 season got off to an amazing start for Silver Hare Racing, with Rafa Matos climbing the podium in opening weekend at Sebring Raceway.  As the season got back underway at Mid-Ohio Rafa and Maurice showed the shutdown had not slowed them down as Rafa put the #7 on pole, and Maurice put the #57 top 3 in Masters.  With another podium at Brainerd just a few weeks ago, Rafa continues to fight at the front in TA2, while Maurice continues to battle for the Masters championship.

Road America provides great racing for Trans Am cars, giving fans multiple places for guaranteed excitement.   All 14-turns will prove to give fans a great view of the race, including the end of the 2nd straight – turn 5.  Downhill, hard on the brakes, down through the gears, from top speed to the slowest corner on the track always makes for great passing.  A similar corner, with higher speeds can be found on the back half at turn 12 – also known as Canada Corner.  What used to be way back in the woods, can now be accessed via wide and flat walking paths to see the fire breathing beasts roll through the kink into turn 12.   No matter where you watch the Trans Am TA2 race at Road America, you are sure to see great side-by-side racing!
