HIGH POINT, N.C. (Dec. 11, 2024) – Silver Hare Racing proudly announces the return of Rafa Matos, the reigning 2024 TransAm TA2 Series Champion, to its driver lineup for the 2025 season. Matos, the winningest driver in TransAm TA2 Series history, brings his unparalleled expertise to Silver Hare Racing as both a competitor and a driver coach for the team’s expanding driver development program.
With 25 career wins, three TransAm championships, and more than 100 podiums, Matos’ legacy in motorsports is unmatched. Following a dominant 2024 season with five victories, Matos is ready to continue building on his storied career while contributing to the growth of Silver Hare Racing’s program. Matos’ 2025 campaign will be further bolstered by the support of the Concord American Flag Pole Company, Team Chevy, Katech Engines and HOWE Racing Enterprises, key partners committed to the team’s success.
“I’m going back there with three championships,” said Matos. “I feel that I gained a ton of experience in the last four years since I last raced with Silver Hare, and I’m really looking forward to this season. I can’t thank Maurice and Laura enough for this opportunity. Working with Gil Martin, and everyone at Silver Hare Racing this season is an exciting challenge.”
Laura Hull, Co-owner of Silver Hare Racing, added:
“Having Rafa back with us is an incredible moment for the team. His experience and leadership will be invaluable to both our drivers and our racing program. We’re thrilled to have him as part of our continued effort to develop and nurture young talent.”
As part of his return, Matos will also take on a critical role as a driver coach, working with drivers yet to be announced. His focus will be on guiding the next generation of talent, leveraging his experience from both his professional career and his personal ventures in driver development.
“Silver Hare is very much focused on the driver development side of things, and I think I can contribute a lot to that part of it,” Matos said. “Driver coaching is something I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember, even back to my karting days in Brazil. The opportunity to integrate this passion into Silver Hare is incredibly exciting. With the tools and resources we have available, such as advanced data analysis, we can provide young drivers with the guidance they need to excel in their careers.”
Matos’ return to Silver Hare Racing marks a full-circle moment, having raced with the team in 2020. His extensive experience and success make him a natural leader both on and off the track. He will also be supported by Joe’s Racing Products, Harrah Inc. Transmissions, Sabelt, Aero Wheels, Magnus Performance, SRI, Maxima Racing Oil, Pro Systems and Tilton during the 2025 season.
