Monterey, CA (May 3, 2025) – Silver Hare Racing returned to victory lane in the 2025 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series, as veteran driver Rafa Matos delivered a commanding win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, marking the team’s first win since the 2024 season opener at Sebring.
Matos, driving the No. 57 Concord American Flagpole/Silver Hare Racing Chevrolet Camaro, set the pace all weekend – topping the charts in practice and qualifying before converting it into a thrilling race victory. He led the majority of the race, fending off fierce competition in a dramatic closing sequence.
After a late-race restart, Matos was challenged by Mike Skeen before a bold three-wide move by Thomas Annunziata sent Skeen spinning and pushed Matos off-track. Despite dropping to fifth, Matos regrouped during a final shootout and capitalized on late contact between Adrian Wlostowski and Brent Crews, ultimately passing Wlostowski in the final corners of the last lap to secure his first win of the season.
“Just super happy, super happy. Can’t thank these Silver Hare Racing boys enough, hats off to them,” Matos said. “It was a dominating car. Got knocked out of the way from Annunziata and I got tired of being pushed around, so super happy for our guys. I wanna say thanks to Concord American Flagpole Company, Chevrolet, Howe Racing, Katech, Magnus, Cube3, and everyone for helping this race team. Just a great West Coast swing for us.”
Matos adds yet another win to his already record-setting TA2 career as the winningest driver in series history.
Trans Am heads next to Lime Rock Park over Memorial Day weekend, with Round 5 of the championship set for Saturday, May 24th.
