(High Point, NC) The Trans Am Series event held this past weekend at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT threw just about every condition possible at the teams.  Saturday’s test session was full wet followed by a dry practice session.  Qualifying on Monday morning saw teams select wet tires for a damp and drying track.  The race that shortly followed was completely dry.

Silver Hare Racing driver Tyler Kicera (no. 5 Silver Hare Mustang) led the wet testing session for a time, ending up P4 and then P5 in the dry practice.  Despite his top-five pace in practice, Kicera struggled in qualifying, ending up P12 with team owner Maurice Hull in P18.

Having to start back in the field with good pace proven earlier in the weekend, Kicera looked to move forward quickly.  He did just that and by lap-six he found himself in fierce battle for fifth with Misha Goikhberg and Keith Prociuk.  Kicera cleared Prociuk on lap-thirteen for fifth position and continued his charge forward.  By lap twenty-three, Kicera had tracked down fourth place runner, Connor Mosack, when a full course yellow slowed the field.

Fifth was as high as Kicera made it before running slightly wide at turn 7 on lap forty-four, packing the grill with grass.  Kicera backslid three spots in next six laps of the race, finishing P8 with Maurice Hull in P13.

“To say we were disappointed with our qualifying effort would be an understatement”, said Kicera.  “I knew we were going to move forward in the race and was really happy with the pace early on.  After quickly making it to fifth, something changed in the handling after that early caution and the car was never the same after.  I continued to push really hard and unfortunately had a slight off, which forced me to give up spots trying to get the grass off my grill and bring down the temps.  Overall, we had good pace this weekend, the team continues to make progress and I’m looking forward to Mid Ohio in a few weeks.”

Kicera, Hull and The Trans Am Series heads to Mid Ohio June 25-27 where team manager, Michael Self, will be resuming driving duties behind the wheel of the Sinclair Oils Chevrolet.
