(High Point, NC) The last time the Trans Am Series cars roared around the 3.4 mile Watkins Glen circuit in upstate New York, the year was 2019. That same weekend also marked the series debut for Silver Hare Racing driver, Tyler Kicera (no.5 Silver Hare Racing Ford Mustang), then running with his own family team. Kicera qualified third, ran in the top three most of the race and set the fastest race lap, ultimately finishing fourth. In the span between 2019 and this weekend’s Watkins Glen event, Kicera has made twelve more starts in the series, notched his first win, secured a pole position, and has stood on every step of the podium.

A resident of Pennsylvania, Kicera considers Watkins Glen International his home track. In 2006, Kicera was runner up in his first SCCA club racing start there. Ten years later, in 2016, Kicera won a national championship in Spec Miata at Watkins Glen, and in 2017 nearly took the win on his debut in the Global MX5 Cup series there.

“Watkins Glen is a special place for me,” said Kicera. “I have tons of laps, in lots of different cars, and won a lot of races there. It’s a track you have to respect, but there’s a lot of risk-reward type opportunities that can give you an edge if you’re willing to push. It’s crazy to think I made my TA2 debut there back in 2019 and we haven’t been back since. That seems like so long ago. I’ve had this race circled on my calendar since the (2021) schedule was announced and I’m really excited that it became a double race weekend. I certainly have high expectations for myself this weekend.”

The Silver Hare Racing team will field three cars at Watkins Glen. Maurice Hull (no.57 Silver Hare Racing Chevy Camaro) finished on the podium in 2007 at the Glen racing Historic Stock Cars, while Michael Self (no.7 Sinclair Oil Chevy Camaro), who made his first NASCAR Xfinity series start there back in 2015, hopes to use his stock car experience at the track to also be a threat for the win.
