(High Point, NC) With Road Atlanta in the rear-view, Silver Hare Racing is heading west to tackle the competition and famous Corkscrew at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.  With team owner and driver Maurice Hull opting out of the event, Tyler Kicera (no. 5 Waukegan Farms, Sabelt, Silver Hare Ford Mustang) and Michael Self (no. 7 Sinclair Oil, Silver Hare Chevrolet Camaro) will be the team’s challengers in this weekend’s one-hundred-mile Trans Am TA2 event.  Both drivers arrive with past experience at the famous 2.24-mile northern California circuit.

“My most recent competitive laps were in the 2020 Trans Am e-sports championship, if you want to count that”, Kicera said of his seat time at Laguna Seca.  “We earned pole position, won one of those races and I certainly hope to continue where I left off this weekend in the real world.  Other than that, I ran the 2014 SCCA Runoffs there in a Spec Miata and finished fifth before some rather infamous tech shed drama. I love the track and am really excited to return, especially in a TA2 car.”

“It’s been years since I’ve made any laps at Laguna Seca outside of a sim,” said Self. “The last time I raced there was back in 2007 I believe, in a Skip Barber Racing School formula Dodge car.  I won one of the two races that weekend, but that was a long time ago.  I’m definitely going to have to re-familiarize myself with the track.  The guys have been working really hard in the shop since our set-back at Road Atlanta, and I’m excited about some of the ideas we have based around our set-ups and some things we’ve figured out with the cars.”

With one less test session than usual this weekend, track time is going to be at a premium.  Add in a thirty-eight car TA2 entry list and clean track is likely to be in short supply as well.  Silver Hare Racing drivers hit the track for their first time Thursday afternoon with official practice and qualifying on Friday.  The race can be watched live on the Trans Am app beginning at 12:55pm PT on Saturday.
