Lexington, OH (June 23, 2025) – Silver Hare Racing overcame early-weekend adversity and scorching temperatures to secure another podium finish in Round 6 of the 2025 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Rafa Matos delivered a hard-fought second-place result, while 19-year-old Noah Harmon continued to show speed and growth in his rookie season.
Trouble struck early for the team when Matos was collected by another car that spun into him during Friday’s opening test session. The No. 57 Concord American Flagpole/Silver Hare Racing Chevrolet Camaro sustained damage significant enough to require extensive repairs. The SHR crew responded quickly and worked through the weekend to return the car to competitive form.
On race day, Matos started seventh and wasted no time slicing through the field. With a car built for the long run, he charged up to second place and began applying pressure on leader Tristan McKee. However, a series of late-race cautions prevented Matos from building enough momentum to complete the pass for the lead, resulting in a strong runner-up finish and another podium for Silver Hare Racing.
“It was a hot one today, but I just want to thank all the Silver Hare boys for putting this car back together and making it fast after what we went through on Friday,” said Matos. “The Concord American Flagpole Company Chevy was good today and I’m excited for the quick turnaround to Road America next weekend.”
In just his first career appearance at Mid-Ohio in the TA2 Series, Harmon qualified eighth in the No. 7 Streetside Classics/CUBE 3 Architecture Chevrolet Camaro and settled into a strong rhythm in the opening laps. He worked his way up to sixth before an aggressive move by Corey Day sent Harmon into a sand trap while battling for fifth. Day was later penalized for the contact.
Despite losing multiple laps while stuck in the gravel, Harmon rejoined the race and put in a strong drive, passing several cars and showing the pace to run inside the top 10 had he remained on the lead lap. He finished 19th.
“We had a really fast Streetside Classics/CUBE 3 Chevy today—just got sent into the sand trap late while going for a top five,” Harmon said. “Overall, I learned a lot. Even though it wasn’t our best day on paper, I’m proud of the speed we showed and can’t thank the SHR team and Laura and Maurice enough for the opportunity. I’m ready to keep improving and chase that first podium at Road America.”
Silver Hare Racing and the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series presented by Pirelli will now head to Road America, with Round 7 of the championship scheduled for Sunday, June 29th.
