(High Point, NC) The fifth round of the 2021 Trans Am TA2 national championship took place this past weekend at the Mid Ohio Sportscar Course in Lexington, OH.  The event marks the first of two in a ten-day span, with Silver Hare Racing expanding its effort to four cars this coming weekend at Road America.  Joining the team will be NASCAR Cup Series driver Christopher Bell (no. 75 Silver Hare Chevy Camaro), a winner earlier this year at the Daytona road course, and three-time NASCAR Xfinity Series race winner Harrison Burton (no. 77 Silver Hare Chevy Camaro).

Silver Hare Racing built valuable momentum at Mid Ohio that it hopes to build on this weekend at Road America.  The team tied its best result of the season at Mid Ohio with Tyler Kicera bringing his number-five, Silver Hare Ford Mustang, across the line in fourth position.  Kicera started the race on the front row, having captured a second-place qualifying result in tricky conditions on Friday.  Kicera fell back to eight-position early in the race and fought his way back to within reach of a podium finish by the end of the race.

“I was thrilled for the whole team with our qualifying result”, said Kicera.  “The crew has worked really hard on the balance of our cars and mine was on a rail all weekend.  I just lacked straight line speed to compete for more, but overall, I’m really happy with the progress we’ve made as a team on our entire program.  I’m pumped for Road America and really excited to team up with our star drivers.”

Kicera’s strong finish propelled him into the points lead for Rookie of The Year and just one point out of fifth place in the overall championship standings.

Michael Self (no. 7 Sinclair Chevy Camaro) had been running in the top-five until he cut a tire and ultimately retired with an overheating issue.  Silver Hare Racing team owner, Maurice Hull (no. 57 Silver Hare Chevy Camaro), also had his race spoiled by unavoidable contact midway through the event.
