Silver Hare Racing driver Rafa Matos showcased the speed of the #7 Silver Hare Camaro – fighting his way to the podium in the 100 mile Trans Am TA2 season opener at Sebring Raceway

“The car is really quick, our Silver Hare family is amazing, I can’t thank them enough” – Maurice Hull

Opening weekend for Trans Am at Sebring Raceway had it’s ups and down for Silver Hare, but the newly expanded team dug deep and came away with 3rd place to kick off the championship.   Owner/driver Maurice Hull showed confidence in his team for 2020, with new cars, new engines, new crew members, new partners, and a new teammate.

“The Silver Hare Camaro is so fast! Thank you Maurice, our great sponsors, and everyone at Silver Hare” – Rafa Matos

Round 1 may have started slightly off plan, with some new car gremlins plaguing the rear end of both cars.  However, the hard working Silver Hare crew worked tirelessly all weekend to keep the Camaros on track.   Both cars rolled out for qualifying with few laps in practice on the 17-turn course, yet both Maurice and Rafa would end up near the front of their classes.    Maurice putting the #57 John Hart New York Times Best Selling Author of “The Unwilling” – Chevy ZL1 Camaro top 5 in Masters, while Rafa lined up the #7 Silver Hare Camaro inside row 4.

“We have followed Rafa through most of his career and are very excited to be a part of his new team, Silver Hare. We have high hopes for them in the 2020 season and expect to see Rafa and Maurice on the podium often.”

When the green flag flew, neither driver was content with their starting position and began to work forward.   Lap after lap Rafa continued to pick off cars, almost with ease.   Moving the #7 up into 4th heading into the last lap, Rafa set his sights on 3rd place.    On the penultimate corner of the final lap, coming onto the back straight, Rafa dove down the inside putting the brakes to the limit to take the final podium spot for opening weekend.

Continually moving forward throughout the race, Maurice wheeled the #57 to what appeared to be a top 3 in Masters, before the new car gremlins re-appeared and forced an early retirement from Round 1.
