(High Point, NC) Silver Hare Racing team owner and driver Maurice Hull (#57 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Chevrolet Camaro) brought home top honors in TA2 Masters this past weekend at Road Atlanta. Hull outperformed his Masters rivals to capture the award and solidly finish thirteenth overall in TA2. On earning the award, Hull said “two guys got by me on the first lap braking into 10a, and over the next few laps I was able to get back by them. I spent most of the race with Curt Vogt running on my bumper. He was faster in some spots and I was in others. It was intense, but so much fun. Thanks to Jeff Holley and the whole crew for their hard work this weekend.”
While capturing the TA2 Masters award, Hull did so running his fastest laps ever at the famed 2.54 mile circuit. Hull’s first experience a Road Atlanta came in 2003 in a historic NASCAR stock car. He returned last fall, the site of the 2020 season finale, to claim the TA2 Masters championship.
Tyler Kicera (#5 Waukegan Farms, Sabelt, Ford Mustang) again had his race cut short. Kicera had qualified nineth in one of the tightest TA2 fields ever, with little more than one second separating the top ten. “First of all, congratulations to Maurice on winning the Masters award. He did a great job this weekend and earned it by running his fastest laps ever at Road Atlanta,” said Kicera. “I was holding serve early in the race running in the top-ten, and the car was starting to come to me when I lost power. We were able to get going again after some time behind the wall but were laps down at that point. Our entire team worked so hard this weekend and a lot of effort went into it. We’ll come back stronger for sure.”
Coming off of a career best fourth place finish at Sebring, Silver Hare Racing team manager and driver Michael Self (#7 Sinclair Oil, Chevrolet Camaro) had a tire blow out on lap nine, which resulted in contact with the barrier. He was unable to continue. Silver Hare Racing will be in action next at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on April 30 th through May 2 nd for round three of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli TA2 national championship
